Things That Happened in Mei - June 2013

Sorry for the very late update on the blog. I had been busy for the whole months lately due to a month full of exam. Due to my absences for the past month, I will tell you what did I do when I was 'busy' with my exams.

In my school, we follow the Cambridge curriculum where all the grade 12 (or year 12) students have the choice to join the international A / As Level examination made by Cambridge them selves. I'm technically one of the ones that took this exam and one thing I learn from this is... The exams are not cheep. For future generations, if you're not going to use the result from the exams, I suggest that you save the money and use it for another purpose. Now for the once that did not join for the Cambridge exams, they must undergo labor work which in this case Internship! I don't know much what they do during this period but the only thing I could tell was they work and if they are lucky enough, they will get paid but of course in a little amount.

Valentines Day 2013

"Roses are red, Violets are blue," This line is the most frequently used for poems. Speaking of roses, today is the day when cupid will do his job, shooting his arrow of love to target couples. Yes it is Valentines Day, the most romantic day of the year.

Today was really an exhausting day for me but it was really a fun day as well. In my school, we had this fund raising activity by selling chocolates today. I volunteered to help out by delivering these chocolates to their destined person. If you know my school and so you know how I get exhausted. I travel around the school from High School into Middle School. Up to the fourth floor and down to first then back up to fourth once more. But seeing the person who receives the chocolate smiling just makes me feel better.

I was late for class for a couple of minutes dough but its okay. Once in a while I want to get involved in an activity in school. It was really totally worth it.

Happy Valentines day to all of you and I would like to hear what happened on your valentines day? Leave a comment below and tell me your part of the story!

Happy Chinese New Year

Gong xi fa chai!! Sorry for the late post. An error occured and deleted my draft so I need to begin again from scratch. So its finally this time of the year again where family gathers and have some fun eating Chinese food together. Other than that this year is the year of the snake just for info.

What I like about Chinese new year is the tradition. Dragon dance and ang pao. In this day, when we meet our family member, we have to do a special gesture and says "giong hi". The gesture is simple. Just make a fist with your right hand and wrap it with your left hand. Wrapping it needs to be vertical and not horizontal. Meaning cover the whole fingers of your right hand except the thumb. Then shake :D. The person who receive this gesture will need to give you ang pao. This ang pao means to share our fortune with our family's net generation which is the child. The rule in giving ang pao is only the once that have undergo marriage can give ang pao, while for the people that is still single may receive.

Another tradition is the dragon dance or as we called it here barongsai. Other than entertaining,  the dragon dance also gives us fortune. While they are dancing, they usually approaches us. What we should do is to give them ang pao. This time the ang pao given symbolize as badluck. It means that these dragons will take your badluck away and leaving you with goodluck. And the rest is just for entertainment. Its just fascinating just to see them dancing. Why is there two dragons you ask. Its because each dragon resembles different gender. I can't identify which one is the female and which one is the male, but they usually differentiate them from the color.

I hope you all had fun with your family on this wonderful day! Happy Chinese new year everyone and I wish you all will have a wonderful year filled with happiness and fortune. Lets celebrate!!

February 2013

As my exams are getting closer, more and more work is needed to be done. Binus is the school I go to and it is one of the schools that gives tough projects and home works. It is tough but it really is an enjoyable 5 years that I have spent here in Binus. But sadly things have to come to an end someday.

Graduation is getting near and so does my nasional exams, final school exams and lastly the Cambridge A/As Level exams, also known as the CIE exams. All of the tests that I have mentioned will be held from March and will be finished on June. Of course there are gap between each exams or else I would probably die of frustration already. Haha. As long as I prepared for the exam then I have nothing to worry about.

I apologize if I won't have updates during weekends but I will do my best to write reviews on movies next time. Wish me luck :)!

Trip Around Borobudur

Hey all, as I said before I am spending this Christmas holiday here in Jogjakarta Indonesia. One of the places I went is the famous Candi Borobudur. It is an ancient temple made for Buddhist to pray to their God. It was made baaaaacckkk in the old days, around 19 something I guess. It was really crowded but in overall it was totally worth it. Me and my family went to the top of the temple and see this wonderful view around the temple. FYI Candi Borobudur is located in Magelang which is near Jogjakarta. It was really an exhausting experience since we have to walk uphill and climb many stairs to reach the top. But ya it is still a very wonderful place to visit when you are going to Indonesia. Take a look at some pictures that my brother took.
