Puella Magi Madoka Magica

This is one of the most unique Magical girl anime series that I have ever seen in my entire life. Apart from the costumes and drawing and all, the story itself really makes a difference from all other magical girls anime series. This anime is probably one of those that I would say, "Don't judge it by cover pictures of their DVDs if you're buying them or their pictures that are posted on anime streaming websites."

Plot:

Kyubey (That innocent looking ..... [fill in the blank])

Puella Madoka Magica begins their story around a young pink haired, 14-year old girl named Madoka Kaname in the city of Mitakihara. One day Madoka encounters an encubator named Kyubey who's job is to grant girls wishes and by so in return the girls are turned into magical girls. Meanwhile, a transfer student named Homura Akemi tries to stop Madoka from becoming a magical girl at all costs. As the story progresses Madoka realised that being a magical girl is not as happy and glamorous as she thought instead it is filled with anguish, suffering and despair. By being a magical girl, they must give their souls to form a soul gem in which they got their magical abilities from, but if their gems got tainted too much, the girls will turn into witches which are the monsters they are fighting against. Later on the story Madoka finds out that Homura had a magical ability to control time. She had been repeating the same month over and over again, trying to prevent Madoka from turning into a magical girl.

Puella Magi Madoka Magica had this amazing story with a twist that nobody could have expected. The first impression of this anime was its going to be another cliche story again where the main protagonist become a very powerful character that destroys all evil. BUT I WAS WRONG! Well maybe a little bit wrong. This was the first magical girl anime that I have ever seen that have such a brutal plot in which involving death, blood and violence. I don't recommend watching it if your like still a kid but for teens and above I totally recommend you checking this out. I've read the manga first then to their anime series but until now I still haven't watch their movie. Their artwork is not the best but it fits well to the story. Never the less their opening theme song is made by ClariS "Connect" which is an amazing song. In conclusion I will rate this anime a 4/5. Very original and very creative. This anime will change your view perspectives of magical girl anime.
